Haida Picture Appreciation | November 2025

This month's Picture Appreciation is here, let's appreciate some amazing photos taken by our excellent official Haida Ambassadors with Haida filters!

The picture was taken on an aurorahunting trip in northern Norway, to the west of Tromso. I noted the dark sky and the fjord and wanted to get a shot. So I looked for a possibility to park the car und find a good foreground. The CPL-VND filter was very useful to get smooth water und get rid of the light reflections on the water surface.

A early sunrise in Newfoundland.

For the past few days, I've been struggling with smoke in the atmosphere of forest fires in Canada. On this cool summer morning in Newfoundland, clouds and color finally returned to the sky. I calmed the subject with a 90-second long exposure.

Hvitserkur
The Hvitserkur sea stack resembles an elephant or a dinosaur, depending on your imagination. I noticed how the clouds slowly moved towards me, so I found a spot that gave a good view of the mountains in the back while the moving clouds were centered over Hvitserkur. I used a drop-in ND 4.5 filter to achieve the required exposure time.

A crisp Autumn day at Cedar Creek, Washington. I decided to revisit this classic spot, but with my own twist—using freshly fallen maple leaves in the foreground to lead the eye toward the old mill house. I used the Haida PROII CPL-VND to cut reflections off the stream and adjusted just enough neutral density to slow the shutter, smoothing the water into a gentle flow. A peaceful afternoon, full of color, texture, and that quiet fall magic.
