Review of Haida M10 Filter Holder System And Red-Diamond Filters

By Kurt Wang

I'm excited to announce that I was invited by @haidafilter as their Ambassador and Co-photographer. Haida is a well-known brand for its high-end professional filter products. After testing and using their amazing filter system, I was very impressed with their innovative and convenient designs as well as their superior quality.

My favorite filter system is the Haida M10 Filter Holder plus their Red-Diamond Series filters. This holder system allows for fast filter setup and ease of operation. It can handle up to two 100mm square filters plus a drop-in filter. The setup is super easy and fast, requiring no screw-in threads at all. It is made from aviation-grade aluminum and PC materials, which makes it so strong and durable while also lightweight.

My most used filters are Haida Red-Diamond ND filter ND3.0 (10 stops) and Red-Diamond Soft Graduated ND filter GND 1.2 (4 stops). These filters are made of shockproof double strength optical glass, because of the Nanopro Multi-coating on both sides flare and ghosting are avoided while still maintaining excellent sharpness. I would also like to mention that I found these filters didn’t have color cast and vignette issues. As you can see from the first photo, which was shot with a combination of these 2 filters, they really retain colors, sharpness, and details so well.

Now onto the first photo. It’s shot during the golden hour in the morning when the sun has been up for a while already, in this case, it’s really hard to shoot a long exposure. But with the help of Haida’s 10 stop ND filter and 4 stop soft graduated ND filter, I was able to get an 86 second exposure that makes the water look smooth and foggy, and thanks to the soft graduated ND filter, the exposure of the bright sky was balanced with the foreground while also taking care of the details of Toronto skyline at the background. Without the filters, I wouldn’t be able to get an extended shutter speed and a balanced exposure in one shot.

If you are a landscape photographer, I would definitely recommend you try Haida’s filter system, it’s a real game-changer. Thanks for reading.
